ABC announced this week the release of Multimedia Publisher's Statements for four more b-to-b publications—Hearst Business Media's Floor Covering Weekly and Electronic Products and McGraw Hill Construction's ENR and Architectural Record.
The four new titles join RN and Nation's Restaurant News in adopting the new report format that allows business publications to present advertisers with independently verified audience metrics in Paragraph 1 of ABC’s reports. Publishers may include multiplatform audience metrics such as Web site activity, e-newsletter distribution and pass-along receivership. All of the data elements are totaled and presented as “Total Gross Contacts” on the report.
The Multimedia Publisher's Statement was approved at ABC’s July 2008 board meeting and the organization announced its first two completed statements in March 2009.
Impact of Smartphones, e-Readers on Industry Discussed at DAC Meeting
In other news, at ABC’s Digital Advisory Committee’s June 1 meeting, the group discussed the potential of e-readers, such as Amazon’s Kindle, to allow newspapers and magazines to reach new and existing subscribers and charge for content without the cost of print and distribution.
The committee also discussed the potential of the latest generation of mobile phones, including the iPhone and other smartphones. The committee’s recommendations will be presented to the full board at its July meeting. The Digital Advisory Committee was formed in October of last year to examine business trends as well as its role in auditing emerging media.
