Technologizer’s McCracken to Write Tech Column for Time.com

Editor says writing gig is an opportunity to broaden tech site’s audience.

It’s been about two years since former PC World top editor Harry McCracken left the magazine, and the print world, behind to launch online tech news and analysis site Technologizer. Now, McCracken is gearing up to expand the Technologizer brand further by writing a weekly column for Time.com and contributing to the magazine’s Techland site. His first post, with Technologizer credits and links, is expected sometime this September.

“Technologizer's single biggest challenge is that most of the people in the world who might like it simply don't know it exists, so I'm excited about the potential to introduce it to the millions of smart people who read Time.com,” McCracken says.” My Time pieces will link back to Technologizer, which is a big deal from both a branding and traffic standpoint.”

McCracken says his yet unnamed column on Time.com will feature original content, not syndicated pieces from Technologizer. He says he will be compensated for his contributions to Time although there is no revenue sharing deal in place.

When Technologizer launched in summer 2008, the site partnered with Federated Media as its advertising partner. “I'm also just excited by the opportunity to contribute to Time, a brand which I have a lot of affinity for and which is doing cool stuff on the Web,” McCracken says.
